Like cocktails but can't be bothered with buying juices, bitters, syrups that barely get used, then measuring tiny amounts of liquids in just the right proportions? This device takes the best parts of those mega-cool robot-bartending machines found in fancy hotels and cruise ships and lets you enjoy it from the comfort of your home.
The Bartesian works in a similar way to those pod coffee machines only with booze. Fill the 5 spirit bottles with your favourite whisky, gin, vodka, rum and tequila then insert a Bartesian capsule containing just the right amount of extracts, juice concentrates and mixers for your favourite cocktail.
The machine reads a barcode on the pod, gives you the option of changing the spirit strength (Mocktail, Light, Regular, Strong) then all that is left is to hit the 'mix' button and let the machine do its magic.
The Bartesian capsules are created by master mixologists and include the ingredients for favourites like margaritas, whiskey sours, old fashioneds, and more. You add ice to the appropriate glass, finish with some garnish and it is job done.
There is a price for this convenience and it is, erm, the price. The machine itself costs about £300 which is steep, but the real kick in the highballs is the cost of the capsules which work out at about £2.50 each. Add that to the cost of 5 bottles of decent liquor and it won't be a cheap night in. Does the price put me off? Maybe. Do I still want one? Definitely.
