Last vinyl blast of the year so thought it would be fitting that it was this.
A friend helped a neighbour who was clearing out some old stuff and was dumping a load of unwanted vinyl (I know, sacrilege!) He rescued a box full of records and gifted them to me - nice one George!!!
This record was part of the haul and was in the unsorted pile. Randomly, I was looking for another record today and this caught my eye so I decided to give it a clean and a spin.
This record is older than me and it shows (well sounds). Despite a good clean it is crackly as hell but do you know what, it just adds to the charm. A classic male choir belting out all the old favourites on a 50+ year old record full of pops and clicks, fantastic.
I’ve just checked Discogs, if you want this record it won’t exactly break the bank, there is a copy going for 46p! To be fair, there is a fiver P&P on top of that, but still. If you do pick up a second hand disc, I hope it has been played and loved as much as this copy clearly has.
Tracks To Try: ‘Hark! The Herald Angels Sing’, ‘The First Nowell’, ‘While Shepherds Watched’, ‘Ding, Dong Merrily On High’, ‘Oh Come All Ye Faithful’, ‘Away In A Manger’, ‘O Little Town Of Bethlehem’, ‘The Holly Snd The Ivy’, ‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen’.
