I can’t remember how I stumbled across Panes but I’m glad I did. For those unaware (most of you I guess) he is a modern folk singer songwriter from Dorset. He creates, beautiful, mostly acoustic songs that are perfect to relax or chill to.
Panes came up with name of the album before writing a note and then checked to see if it was a real place. Turns out The Summer Isles are a small island chain in the Highlands, not far from Ullapool. This led to a trip to Scotland which kick started the writing process.
This is a collection of songs inspired by this trip, the warmth of the summer, being in awe of nature, falling in love, and coming back to his hometown on the south coast and finding the beauty in the familiar.
Need a break from the 100 mph pace of life? Give this album a go. It is a soothing balm for all the white noise of modern living. Quiet, thoughtful, beautiful.
If you fancy something a little less in your face then the album is available on double eco vinyl for £21 via Amazon or for a couple of quid more from the independents.
Tracks To Try: ‘The Summer Isles (Sunrise)’, ‘Fairy Falls’, ‘Our Time’, ‘Samalaman Bay’, ‘Notes From A Holiday’, ‘Let It Be A Long Time’
