NOW PLAYING: 'THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON - LIVE AT WEMBLEY EMPIRE POOL, LONDON'...

Updated: Jun 15

It is 50 years since Pink Floyd released their masterpiece ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’, and to cash in on, ahem, celebrate this milestone the band released the 50th Anniversary Edition Box Set.

The set includes CD and gatefold vinyl of the new 2023 remastered studio album, Blu-Ray + DVD audio featuring the original 5.1 mix and remastered stereo versions, additional new Blu-ray disc of Atmos mix, plus CD and LP of ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon – Live At Wembley Empire Pool, London, 1974’, a 160-page hardback photo book, a music book, replica 7” singles and memorabilia. Quite a package, and so it should be for £225!!!

I love the album, but not enough to splurge that much on it. I was interested in the Live At Wembley record though and was pleasantly surprised to find it was available via Amazon on pre-order for just £16 delivered which, on the face of it, is a bit of a bargain. There must be a catch, right? Well actually, no.

This is a really good pressing of a seminal recording in nice packaging and at a sensible price. The music speaks for itself, it has been around longer than I have, and this release showcases Pink Floyd as a fantastic live act.

Unfortunately, the deal on Amazon has finished but the album is available all over for around £20 which is still, in my option, a bit of a bargain. Even if you only have a passing interest in Pink Floyd or The Dark Side Of The Moon I reckon this is definitely worth adding to the collection.

Tracks To Try: ‘Time’, ‘The Great Gig In The Sky’, ‘Money’, ‘Us And Them’.
