Happy 40th Birthday to an absolute worldy of an album. This is a beautiful original pressing gifted to me a couple of years ago - I know, I'm a lucky boy!
I played Side A of this LP more than any other Simple Minds record. Why wouldn't you when it has 'Up On The Catwalk'/'Book Of Brilliant Things'/'Speed Your Love To Me'/'Waterfront'/'East At Easter' on it?
Side B isn't as strong, but that is mainly down to how good A is. It still has tracks like '"C" Moon Cry Like A Baby' and 'The Kick Inside Of Me,' which are classic hidden gems. The latter track always sounded like a U2 song if the Irish band had more muscle.
When it was released, the album was well received by critics and fans alike, and it still stands up today, especially Side A. Plenty are available on eBay and Discogs for buttons if you fancy a copy.
