'Reworked' does exactly what it says on the tin, it is an album of reworked versions of some of Snow Patrol’s biggest songs.
The album also includes three brand new tracks, one of which has a verse about remembering a lost relative which is so poignant that I can barely listen to it - the power of music right there.
Most of the songs on the album are acoustic-based or lo-fi reimagined versions which, in my opinion, stand up against the originals very well. ‘Chocolate’ is a great example of this, I think I prefer the reworked version to the original.
Some are not so good though like ‘Run’ where singer Gary Lightbody’s voice is put through some electronics to make it sound like Metal Mickey is on vocals.
With its stripped-back nature, it isn’t the soundtrack to a summer BBQ I reckon, it is the sort of record to listen to in peace. It album reminds me of acts like Bear’s Den, the gentler moments of The War On Drugs and even Mumford & Sons.
Tracks To Try: ‘Take Back The City’, ‘Open Your Eyes’, ‘Chocolate’, ‘You’re All I Have’, ‘I Think Of Home’, ‘Called Out In The Dark’, ‘Just Say Yes’.
