It’s the weekend, time to turn away from all those cool, interesting indie albums I’ve been buying and turn to something familiar and, to be honest, boss!
I was 19 when this lot was in the charts, the songs are the soundtrack to way too many nights in the local dives, drinking bottles of Diamond White cider and Smirnoff Mule.
No point reviewing the album, you have heard all the songs a million times before, but what songs they are! The record includes some absolute belters:
* Too Funky - George Michael
* Ebeneezer Goode - The Shamen
* Even Better Than the Real Thing (Perfecto Mix) - U2
* America: What Time Is Love? - The KLF
* Temptation (Brothers in Rhythm Remix Edit) - Heaven 17
* Disappointed - Electronic
* Human Touch - Bruce Springsteen
* Motorcycle Emptiness - Manic Street Preachers
* Rhythm Is a Dancer - Snap!
* It's My Life - Dr Alban
* Would I Lie to You? - Charles & Eddie
* My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It) - En Vogue
* Finally - CeCe Peniston
* Ain't No Man - Dina Carroll
* My Destiny - Lionel Richie
* Sleeping Satellite - Tasmin Archer
…and many, many more (as they would say in an advert that would have been on the telly at the time). There are some absolute stinkers on here too, but let’s be positive and ignore them as overall the album is, as I’ve said, boss!
Fancy picking up a real time capsule of an album on fetching mint green vinyl? It is available everywhere for about £30.
