NOW PLAYING: 'LOOKING BACK - THE BEST OF' BY HALL & OATES...

Updated: Jun 15

News of court cases and restraining orders have nudged Hall & Oats back into my consciousness so why not give their ‘Best Of’ a blast?

H&O started out all R&B but found great success with their Blue-Eyed Soul in the 80s. Listening back now they were very of their time, but by God, they released some bangers!

‘Kiss On My List’, ‘Private Eyes’, ‘I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)’, ‘Maneater’, ‘Family Man’, ‘Out Of Touch’ - you have the start of an epic school disco right there alone!

Need something for the slowies? How about ‘Everytime You Go Away’ as covered by Paul Young and featured in Planes, Trains And Automobiles? Yeah, that is one of theirs too.

H&O aren’t the coolest band in my collection, this ‘Best Of’ isn’t the pinnacle of their release history but do you know what, I don’t care. This record contains properly good pop songs.

They met in chaotic fashion while escaping a gang fight in Philadelphia and it looks like their relationship is going to end in chaos in a courtroom.

Fancy a copy of this album? You’ll need to do some digging on eBay or Discogs and expect to pay about £15-£20 depending on the condition.

Tracks To Try: Any of them.
