NOW PLAYING: 'HOLODRUM' BY HOLODRUM...

Updated: Jun 15

Behold the magnificence of this brilliant disco-tinged, synth-pop banger! 33 minutes of bright, pulsating, uplifting indie. I’ve fallen hard for this record!

Holodrum are a group made up from other bands based in and around Leeds. There are former members of Hookworms and a current member of Yard Act in there as well as some other indie darlings I’ve yet to hear.

There are tracks on this album that have a hint of ‘Confessions On A Dancefloor’ era Madonna which is no bad thing. Others sound like a Lone Lady mashup of a Tom Tom Club song - again, no bad thing. Give it a listen and you will hear snatches of LCD Soundsystem and Parquet Courts too.

To me, there simply isn’t a bad track on this (admittedly short) LP, and any track could be released as a single.

This is the Dinked Edition which comes on “Hot Pink” coloured vinyl with a bonus flexi 7" with an exclusive studio track - nice. It also comes in an alternative sleeve with a numbered (375/500) Obi strip which I can take or leave to be honest.

Tracks To Try: ‘Lemon Chic’, ‘Low Light’, ‘Clean’.
