A couple of years ago Erasure released ‘The Neon’, an album that was rightly acclaimed as being a triumphant return to their pure pop roots. It was received well and was supposed to be a springboard for the band but that whole Corona virus thing got in the way.
Vince Clarke was, like a lot of us, working from home and decided to take the files from ‘The Neon’ and create something new from them, cue this new album. It is and interpretation of ‘The Neon’ but sounds nothing like the source material.
If you buy this expecting it to be filled with traditional Erasure fare you will be very disappointed, this is more Jon Hopkins and Kelly Lee Owens dream pop electronica territory.
Tracks To Try: ‘Bop Beat’, ‘Inside Out’
