NOW PLAYING: ‘ALEXITHYMIA’ BY QUINN OULTON...

Updated: Jun 15

I came across the track ‘Crashing Colours’ because it features the brilliant Moses Boyd. Was really impressed with that track so listened to a couple of more songs and preordered LP a few months ago.

After a couple of listens, the album strikes me as being a mix of soul, pop and jazz. The distorted, disjointed vocals on tracks like ‘Royalty’ remind me of The 1975 but with jazz flourishes. ‘Far Away’ vocally makes me think of former Beta Band frontman Steve Mason. If either artist float your boat this might be up your street.

This artist and album has come out of nowhere to me and I’m really enjoying them both.

Tracks To Try: ‘Better’, ‘Clashing Colours’, ‘Far Way’, ‘Next Time’.
