Denis Villeneuve reboots Dune in the first of a planned two-part adaptation of the Frank Herbert novel from the 1960s. The film is set in the far future and follows Duke Leto Atreides as he accepts the stewardship of the dangerous desert planet Arrakis, also known as Dune. Dune is the only source of the most valuable substance in the universe, "the spice", a drug which extends human life, provides superhuman levels of thought and makes faster-than-light travel possible. Oh, and it is the home to giant sandworms.
The director has signed up some big stars to feature in the new film including Javier Bardem (Skyfall, No Country For Old Men), Josh Brolin (Old Boy, Avengers, Dead Pool 2), Stellan Skarsgård (Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Ronin), Oscar Issac (Ex Machina, Star Wars reboot), Rebecca Ferguson (Mission Impossible franchise), Jason Momoa, (Aquaman), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy, Spectre) and Zendaya (Spiderman reboot) amongst other. Timothée Chalamet takes the starring role in the film after notably featuring in Interstellar in 2014.
The film opens in cinemas on 18th December in the US. Click on the image below to watch the trailer.
